Volunteers Still Needed

We are still looking for a few more volunteers to join our team and help us to best serve the youth. If you are interested in joining us or have any questions, please contact Angela. For the Sunday Afternoon group, we need the following volunteer roles:

• Session Coordinator - Work with Angela and other Session Coordinators (mostly behind the scenes) to ensure the sessions are running smoothly.
• Session Monitor - Supervise snack time, act as a hall monitor, and assist with other needs as they arise.
• Station Leaders - Receive detailed lesson plans in advance and lead a 30 minute station (x3) during our Rooted sessions.
• Floater (male needed) - Assist Small Group Facilitators (SGFs) and substitute in for SGFs when needed.
  

Snack Donation Sign-Up

As usual, we are asking that parents assist in providing the snacks for our Rooted sessions. You can sign up for a specific month and bring the items (or have them delivered) any time during that month. You will see a link to an Amazon list in the Sign Up Genius for your convenience. If you would rather purchase items through another option, please just ensure that it does not contain nuts, nut butters, gum, or caffeine.

Rooted Set-Up Help (volunteer hours)

Rooted needs help setting up for each session and this is a way that youth can help serve their community and get service hours if desired. We are looking for Rooted youth and teens to assist.

What to Bring to Rooted

Youth should bring their Rooted materials to every session. This includes their blue Rooted bag, their Catholic Youth Bible, and their Rooted journal. These materials are meant to last for the whole three years of Rooted. For youth who are new to the Rooted program, they will receive these at their first session. Youth who have been in Rooted before should have these materials already and bring them!

What NOT to Bring (cell phone policy)

The Diocese' policy is that youth are not to have cellphones or smart devices on their person while attending events such as Rooted. If you must send your child with a phone/smart device, please be aware that they will be required to check it in with our volunteer team during the session. These devices will be with a volunteer or in the office during the session and returned at the end. If youth are found to have a prohibited device with them during the session, the device will be confiscated for the remainder of that session and parents will be notified. Please understand that we cannot accept responsibility for any lost, stolen, or damaged devices.

Attendance / Missed Sessions

We miss the youth when they are gone. Each youth contributes to their Small Group and everyone misses out when someone is absent. Additionally, in order to be eligible for the Sacrament of Confirmation, youth must attend Faith Formation consistently. If your youth is going to miss more than one or two Rooted sessions, please reach out to me so that we can try to find a solution together.

If attending Rooted at a different day/time for some of the sessions is helpful, that is also an option.

Communication

I will send out periodic emails (usually through Constant Contact like this) to remind you about upcoming sessions, notify you of important information, and to inform you of upcoming opportunities for youth to become more involved in their faith and in their church community.

Parent Information Sheet

For each Rooted session, we will send you a few suggested questions to ask your youth after their Rooted session and suggestions for how to continue what was learned in Rooted at home. The Parent Sheet for this coming session is below!
