“The Church's social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society.”
United States Catholic Conference of Bishops
Please join us for an in-depth look at the Church’s social doctrine and how we are all called to respond. This authoritative Church teaching is for everyone, examining social issues through the lens of faith, not politics.
The series will be presented on eight successive Wednesdays, starting May 13 and ending July 1, in the Brown-McCarthy Auditorium. We will have light refreshments at 6:30 p.m. The program will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The first session will be an introduction to the program and an overview of Catholic Social Teaching. Subsequent evenings will each be focused on one of the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching.
Each session will have three components of about 30 minutes each:
- Opening prayer and presentation of Church teaching related to the nightly theme.
- Reflection and small group discussion of two Church quotes related to the nightly theme.
- Invitation to action using a USCCB examination of conscience relative to the nightly theme and learning about SJN ministries related to the theme.
While we encourage you to attend all eight sessions, we understand that there may be sessions you have to miss. Please register even if you cannot attend all eight evenings.
